In a Word…

October 1, 2020 by BFHP

A photography project by Roads Home Case Manager, Lisa Hoff.

Lisa serves veterans experiencing homelessness in Contra Costa and Solano Counties. She combined her passion for helping veterans with her hobby of photography to produce this striking project.

As I was out meeting with the veterans on my case load, in the beginning of the pandemic, I started to wonder what it must be like, homeless, medically compromised, hungry, etc. during this time of uncertainty of life or death. I wanted to capture this in photos of my veterans and “one word” that describes what they are feeling at this time in the world. I completed this project so I can ALWAYS keep in my mind (and visually) why I give 100%, to do everything I can to help our Veterans move in to permanent housing… I see this daily reminder, that we are here for them no matter what and we need to be focused on doing whatever it takes to help them get the assistance they desperately deserve!
