Rio Vista Veterans Residence
The residence is a 6-bedroom, 3-bath house in Rio Vista that provides a permanent home with support services for local veterans. The project was built in partnership with Solano-Napa Habitat for Humanity, American Legion Post 178, Solano County, and the City of Rio Vista.
Many veterans struggle when living in isolation, but thrive on the companionship of housemates, and shared housing is a viable option for veterans on an extremely low income. All incoming residents are screened to ensure their compatibility for a group living situation.
The home provides a quiet and calm environment, allowing the residents to live healthy and productive lives. It’s proximity to the American Legion Hall will provide support and camaraderie from peers.
The home will be owned and operated by BFHP, which will provide the veterans with case management and support services to make their transition out of homelessness as easy as possible.
We hope this project will serve as a prototype for potential similar builds elsewhere.
