Urgent Help Needed – COVID-19 Quarantine Facilities in Alameda County at Capacity

January 11, 2022 by BFHP

Alameda County has informed us that their COVID-19 quarantine facilities for people experiencing homelessness are at full capacity. We rely on these facilities to safely isolate clients at our Dwight Way shelters who test positive for COVID-19. The Omicron variant is placing our most vulnerable and unhoused clients at higher risk, and we are seeing troubling news of other shelters in the area hit hard by Omicron infection in San Francisco, San Jose, and Sonoma County.

Since isolating safely in the shelter is nearly impossible, clients who test positive for COVID-19 would have to be placed in market-rate hotel rooms for their 10-day isolation period which is recommended for congregate living. We are reaching out to our community to raise funds for this urgent need.

Please consider making a donation now to keep our clients and staff safe.
